Alhamdulillah all praises and thanks be to Allah S.W.T., the Creator of the Universe, who has made human beings mutually interdependent in their lives.

The role of the Center for Research & Innovation Management (PPPI) Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) is to strengthen research activities in the direction of producing outstanding scholars and high quality and impactful research work. It also aims to cultivate awareness and participation of USIM’s academic staff in the field of nationally and internationally recognised research.

The Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia Strategic Planning 2016-2025 is based on shariah compliance through its second core area of excellence that involves relevant research and innovation to the industry and prosperity of the Ummah. In addition, the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia Strategic Planning 2016-2025 aims to enhance the quality of its research to that of expert-level status and become recognised both locally and internationally through its second core. This aligns with USIM’s strategic plan to emerge as a global and regional institutional reference based on the integration of Naqli (Quranic resources) and Aqli (intellectual reasoning) knowledge. The USIM Strategic Plan is also positioned to align and support the 10 shifts of the Malaysia Education Blueprint (Higher Education), MEB (HE).

PPPI USIM aims to conduct its research that aligns with the Malaysia Education Blueprint (Higher Education) through the shifts 2, 7 and 8. The second shift of MEB (HE) is in regards to talent excellence (kecermelangan bakat) where USIM’s PPPI needs to skilfully manage the institution’s research and publishing talent. Next, the seventh shift of MEB (HE) involves the Innovative Ecosystem in which USIM is required to move to a quadruple helix concept among the academics, industry, government and members of the local community in developing research and innovation network. On the matter of the eighth shift of the MED (HE), it relates to global prominence where it is essential that USIM improves the quality of its researchers of consultant status and become recognised both locally and internationally.

I sincerely hope that all members of USIM fully support the role of the USIM PPPI through USIM Strategic Planning 2016-2025 in strengthening research of national and international level in an effort to fulfil the shifts 2, 7 and 8 of the Malaysia Education Blueprint (Higher Education).

Syukran jazilan.
